Books for Buddies - Gently Used and New Book Drive to Benefit LV Clark County Library District
The 12th Annual Fall ArtWalk - the Heart of Las Vegas Art - will welcome more new artists, new Guild exhibits and, for the first time, will host a book drive - Books for Buddies - to benefit the Las Vegas/Clark County Library District.
Books for Buddies aims to collect more than 1000 gently used and new books to be donated to the Library District's resell outlets; each year, more than $250,000 is raised by the District through the resale outlets at various Library branches and is used to support community programs. Trails Village Center chose the Library District as the recipient of the Books for Buddies program in recognition of Make A Difference Day, which the Center will participate in with the Books efforts.
From Monday, Oct. 18 through Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, gently used and new books may be brought to Trails Village Center Management office for donation. Then, during ArtWalk (Sat. & Sun. Oct. 23 & 24, 2010), donations will be accepted at the Kids Art Park area; each child who donates a book will receive a free bandana to recognize their support of our libraries. Additionally, children who donate will be given the chance to decorate book shelves which will also be donated to the Library District and used in their resell outlets - a permanent example of community support for reading.
